Three Writing Rules, Jan. 10
You know the quintessential writing rules, hmm? Two of them are famous: (1) Backside (usually said more crudely) in the chair, and (2) Write what you know.
Self-assessment this week: Doing OK.
Most recently posted: Medium story #8 on Vermont country life. Unlike some of the earlier stories, this one has no gunfire. Just a baby arriving. (The UPS delivery guy at about 10 a.m. was not thrilled about having to bring the package of editing work across the living room to me, but after being up all night giving birth and with the tiny one asleep in my lap, I was NOT walking to the door.)
Excitement addicts, fear not: there will definitely be gunfire in story #9, coming soon.
Two more poems added to the 2020 file this week. I post a lot of my first drafts on my FB writer page. The Big Excitement is, a pro poetry editor just finished helping with the arrangement of poems for my upcoming book, and I should have those paper pages back in my hands tomorrow. “Strong collection,” she wrote.
Of course, I’ve got book 3 in my Winds of Freedom series underway (book 1 came out in 2018; book 2 is with the publisher, Five Star/Cengage, publication date Oct 21 2020, yippee!).
