Why I Live in Vermont: 1

Sometimes a good Vermont breakfast with real maple syrup is the best solution. While the mid-March snow tumbles around us, and the stack of work grows higher … And I figure out why I’m writing about Montclair so much lately. Right.

No Excuse Today

Moses had a speech impediment. Mary Magdelene,

a past so messed up that people didn’t listen. My husband

darling of my heart — he’s had it tough sometimes too.

So why did I forget to remember: Get a nudge from God

and even when I’m good and do everything on the list

it’s going to hurt sometimes. Boo-hoo, saltwater

and sniffles. Every time I weep, my sinuses …

Well anyway. I’m here to tell you all, I’m a hot mess

even when I’m writing awesome books. Somewhere back

in high school and before, I took a different road. Yeah,

I know, the road less taken is supposed to be

leafier, prettier, wiser. Sheesh. Sometimes it’s also

rockier, muddier, more lost. Yesterday I got lost

again. So after grabbing a tree and pounding my
